Child's Cry

This story is for anyone that has an event that has made them who they are. I wrote this because I had on hell of a trip down memory line today. But thanks to Sammy and cJ I know I'm not alone, and I will always have a listening ear. I've had so much bottled up it's nice to know that. And I'll do anything I can to help you of course.

This story also goes with the post titled 'The Wedge Between Father and Daughter" and also "Old Wounds, Forever Pain" so read those to figure other relationship between me and my dad.

The event in the story is true, the dialogue is also true, and the names are too (Yes my name is said, I had to make it true). Now I'll take you back to March 16, 2002. My first grade year.

-------------------------------------------------------------------------------
We huddled in the living room, silently comforting each other. My lips quivered and my eyes watered. I gripped desperately to the small dolls. All the small plush bunnies squeezed together in my tiny fist, together like a family should be.

The roar of sound rose, the shouting, the screams. Then a crash louder then everything, the sound of glass to the wall. I cringed and moved stealthy to the hallway, I squeezed the wall, and pressed my face to it coldness.

The door swung open, the only thing barricading the noise was gone. The shouting was unbearable. My mommy's face bright red, and my daddy's drenched in tears.

"Get out!" Mommy yelled to the point where my ears hurt.

Daddy teared up more and obliged and went down the small staircase to the front door. My heart skipped a beat, was all I tried to prevent in vein. Was this my doing? Had I caused this? But most importantly, what is happening?

"Daddy!" my soprano voice rang in terror.

I ran into the arms of my dad. He embraced my and I cried into his shirt.

"I love you." He said and hugged me closer.

He released me and I shook my head. I wanted to tell him how much I loved him, but the words stuck in my throat. I heard gasping, I looked up to see Marina and David peeking over the side of the couch at the scene below.

David looked complete unaffected by the events occurring, like he knew. He knew this was coming, but what is 'this' anyway? I'm confused.

Daddy reached for the doorknob, Mommy was throwing things at him, like clothes and such. I shirked quietly with every article thrown.

"Where are you going?" I asked innocently, why is my Daddy leaving so late at night?

Two arms scooped me up into another hug.

"Daddy's going away for awhile." He tried to sound strong, but failed.

"Wait!" I pulled away and handed him the tiniest of the bunny dolls. The one that represented me.

"Thank you." He held the doll to his heart and turned as if to hid from me. What is he hiding?

"I love you, David, Marina, Mikayla."

"I love you Daddy." My little voice sobbed.

I stared out the glass door as my Daddy went out into the rainy night. He was lost in the dark until the car lights flashed and drove away down the rode. I prayed that he would come back, come home.

I stayed up all night at the glass door, I listened to the rain and every passing car gave me hope, but no one ever came. I cried for Daddy to come home, I wanted him home.

"Mikayla." David said from behind me. He sounded as if nothing happened. "Come away from the door you'll catch a cold."

It was like pulling my heart out as I stood up and followed my brother up the stairs. He hugged me for comfort.

"Let's get you off to bed it's late."

I've never sleep peacefully again.

  2. Oh, Elena...D: I'm sorry I don't really have anything helpful to say, just don't forget that there are people who care for and love you, even if you've never even really met them *hugs*
